Bitterly Cold But Worth It

This morning, eight runners from Kearney braved the bitterly cold temps to venture a mile on the trails while running in memory of Sherry Arnold. Specialized bibs were even made to commemorate the run.

You might think that a mile isn't much, but with air temps at -2, and wind chills at -20, a mile is long enough!

Some runners also (wisely) opting to run inside on their own schedule, ran (with) us as well.

Obviously, the distance is NOT the important thing. What's important is a solidarity of runners; whether seasoned or novice, fast or slow, friends, acquaintances and strangers, banded together to remember one of our own...a runner...who was taken too soon in a senseless act of violence.

This may not have been a race today, but I'm counting this as run number 1 out of (hopefully) 15 for the year.

R.I.P. Sherry Arnold!

Zumbarunner...whether shaking it or running it, I'll cross the finish line!
